Critic Review
Washington Wine Blog, Owen Bargreen
"The 2017 Ellie’s Cabernet Sauvignon is named after Craig’s mother and is sourced from more than ten vineyards and is made in a more restrained style. Layers of red bell pepper and coffee grounds are woven together with red cherry and mocha tones on the palate. This has great acidity and mouthfeel, with a good sense of elegance once on the mouth. Cassis and mocha combine with very pretty red fruits on the palate. The tension and acidity really drives this beautiful wine that will cellar well over the next ten to fifteen years. "

The 2017 Ellie's Cabernet Sauvignon is deep ruby hue with open aromatics - hints of violet, black cherry, and subtle earthy spice. The palate is nuanced and layered with darker flavors of black olives, cassis, and cocoa. Balanced tannin lengthens the finish with just a touch of tobacco and earth.

  • Black Cherry
  • Earthy Spice
  • Cassis
  • Cocoa

This wine is named for Craig Hall's mother, Eleanor “Ellie” Hall, who was an artist and a teacher. She inspired Craig’s love of art and it is her artwork that graces this wine’s label. Crafting this blend is an exercise in texture. Vineyard sources are selected for their elegance with tannins that are soft, lush, opulent and feminine in character. The palate is driven by minerality, cassis, and a floral perfume.
