Critic Review
Jeb Dunnuck
"Slightly lighter colored compared to the 2016, the 2017 Pinot Noir Rosella's Vineyard is more floral and finesse-driven, with perfumed notes of strawberries, flowers, and spice. Vibrant, seamless, and elegant are the buzzwords here, and it’s another beautiful wine from one of the top terroirs in the region."

"Offers a silky mouthfeel, with lushly spiced flavors of dark plum, blackberry and dark currant that are well-knit. Well-structured, featuring black olive and baker's chocolate notes that extend on the moderately tannic finish. Drink now through 2025..."

Beautiful deep garnet in color. Effusive aromas of ripe berry, white flowers, and subtle baking spice. The palate is delicate and beautifully balanced with flavors of raspberry coulis, dried wild sage, white stawberry and candied violet. Well integrated and warm oak notes round out a juicy finish that is laced with a well balanced acidity. A very vibrant and pretty wine.

  • This vineyard, named for Gary Franscioni's wife Rosella, was planted in 1996 and was the first in their portfolio. Rosella's vineyard is characterized by its maritime climate with strong coastal winds coming off of the Monterey Bay. Foggy mornings and sunny, breezy afternoons keep the site cool and ideal for Pinot Noir. We work with Pisoni, 777, 667, and 828 clones at this site which bring complexity and nuance to the finished wine.
