Wine Enthusiast, Virginie Boone
"With grapes grown by the Mauritson family, this wine is gritty, textured and gravely on the palate, with exuberantly full-bodied red fruit. Bringing heat and intensity to the fore, it settles into a structured finish of dusty black pepper and nutmeg."
Jeb Dunnuck
"Coming from the Robert Mauritson Vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley and aged 11 months in 32% new French oak (and 35% in concrete), the 2018 Zinfandel Home Base offers a richer, medium to full-bodied style as well as classic brambly herbs, tobacco, cedar, and spiced red and blue fruit aromas and flavors. It's textured, has beautiful tannins and no hard edges, and is an undeniably delicious Zinfandel."

Dry Creek AVA – Rudy's Vineyard & Mauritson Home Ranch
Home Base starts with fruit farmed by the pioneering Mauritson family. This Zinfandel was made from two vineyards on the eastern side of the valley with vine ages ranging from 40-70 years old. One of the oldest wine regions in California, Dry Creek Valley has been renowned for its Zinfandel since the 1880’s. Distinctive from most other growing regions in Sonoma county, the valley warms earlier in the day and reaches higher average temperatures, yet still drops dramatically in temperature at night. These conditions make for deliciously rich and weighty wine.
