"Coming all from the Maffei Vineyard in the Russian River Valley and very old vines, the 2018 Zinfandel Tug O' War sports a deep plum/ruby hue as well as classic Zin notes of brambly herbs, cedarwood, candied orange rind, and strawberry and plum fruits. Ripe, medium to full-bodied, and nicely concentrated, it has a wonderful sense of elegance and purity, silky tannins, and no hard edges. This beautiful Zinfandel does everything right!"

Pure, lush fruit aromas of blackberry and raspberry reflect a classic Russian River profile with the added complexity of floral and candied orange notes. Dark and brooding in nature, the polished, tannic structure is filled out with plush fruit and balanced with vibrant acidity that leads to a finessed, spicy finish.

Moderate daytime temperatures create rich wine characterized by pure, explosive, ripe berry flavors tempered by cool marine foggy nights that impart a nerve of acidity. Farmed by the granddaughter of the founding Italian family, Joanne Maffei is very hands-on. You’ll always find her in working in the vineyard and her cheerful approach to caring for the land makes everyone feel like part of family.
