2021 WALT Sangiacomo Chardonnay
Chardonnay - Sangiacomo Vineyards
Critic Review
"WALT has been working with this site for more than a decade, as they source from three parcels in the vineyard. Each lot is picked separately and then blended back together. This comes off very salty and savory with salted Marcona almond, toasted brioche bread, and roasted pineapple notes on the palate."
93 Points | Wine Spectator, MaryAnn Worobiec
"Expressive and complex, with pear, Meyer lemon, orange blossoms and candied ginger, plus hints of buttery pastry and baking spices. Reveals traces of minerality that linger on the finish, along with details of roasted, salted almond and marzipan."
93 Points | Wine Enthusiast, Jim Gordon
"Well-structured and quite oaky, this assertive wine is loaded with ripe fruits, toast and apple-pie spices on a velvety texture that has a bit of tannic grip...."
The Sangiacomo Vineyard
This sustainably farmed, low-yielding site, just
outside the city of Sonoma, is famous for Chardonnay.
San Pablo Bay
Cooling influence extends the growing season for slow,
even ripening and perfectly balanced acidity.
Sandy, Well-draining Soils
Stresses vines into producing grapes of full
varietal intensity.
Our Sangiacomo Chardonnay is distinguished by heady aromatics of fresh orchard fruit, brioche, neroli and a hint of flinty reduction. The palate is bright, full-flavored, and beautifully supported with a touch of oak barrel structure. Lemon curd and mineral flavors lead to a generous finish.

The Sangiacomo Vineyard is a certified sustainable vineyard, first planted in 1969. The block we source from is entirely "Old Wente" field selection. The proximity to the Pacific Ocean and San Pablo Bay makes this site ideal for growing Chardonnay. Older vines produce small clusters that drive concentration and richness in the wine.
